My personal cooking style is rooted in simplicity, bold flavors, and a respect for fresh, seasonal ingredients. I believe that good food doesn’t need to be complicated—it just needs to be prepared with care and intention. My philosophy is to cook with love, stay true to the essence of each ingredient, and always aim to create meals that bring comfort and joy to others.
I enjoy working with a blend of traditional and contemporary techniques, and I’m especially drawn to African, Mediterranean, and Asian cuisines because of their rich spices and vibrant flavors. I love experimenting with herbs, natural aromatics, and local produce, as they offer endless ways to be creative while still honoring cultural roots. Cooking, for me, is both an art and a way to connect with people.

What led Duru Mercy A to become a chef / cook:
What I started cooking, when I was growing up I have the passion for cooking and I'm always in the kitchen, so I developed the likeness in it.

I believe I should be selected for this contest because I bring passion, creativity, and a deep respect for the art of cooking. For me, food is more than just a meal—it’s a story, a memory, and a way to bring people together. I’m constantly learning, experimenting, and pushing myself to grow, and this contest is the perfect platform to showcase my skills while learning from others.
